Side Note 31a - 2010: Friedrich Schorlemmer
20 years of German unity was celebrated today in Osnabrück, in the historic town of Osnabrueck. A man of words I've experienced there. Talk of Friedrich Schorlemmer from Wittenberg, co-founder of the Democratic Awakening in Dresden in 1989 and winner of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 1993 oscillated between thoughtfulness and cabaret-like point, such as when he parodied Honecker or differences came to a head ("We had women, their husbands were, you had Alice Schwarzer. "). In any case, it was a pleasure to listen, to the children's hymn borrowed from Brecht's final line "that flourish, a good Germany". So be it.
